Laundry Renovations FAQs in Mentone

How can a laundry layout work better?

A more practical layout can make room for the sink, washing machine and dryer while improving access and everyday movement. Athans Building Services can update the carpentry to suit the space, including benchtop supports, cabinetry and appliance openings. Plumbing and electrical requirements are considered as part of the planning.

What storage can be added to my laundry?

Storage options can include fitted laundry cabinets, open shelves, broom storage and a linen cupboard. The right combination depends on the room’s size and how it’s used. Athans Building Services can help plan useful storage that fits the available space and works with the laundry’s finishes.

Can appliance openings be adjusted during renovation?

Yes, carpentry can create or adjust openings to suit washing machines and dryers. The team can also fit doors and trims or update framing where needed. Appliance dimensions and service connections should be checked before work begins, so the finished layout accommodates the plumbing and electrical requirements.

Do laundry walls need moisture resistant materials?

Moisture resistant substrates may be suitable in areas exposed to damp conditions, depending on the laundry’s layout and the planned finishes. Athans Building Services can assess the carpentry requirements and prepare the space accordingly. Plumbing work and any waterproofing needs should be discussed with the relevant licensed trades.

How are plumbing and electrical works coordinated?

Laundry carpentry needs to allow for plumbing and electrical work, especially around sinks, appliances and benchtops. Athans Building Services can plan the cabinetry, supports and openings with those requirements in mind. Licensed plumbers and electricians should complete their own work and confirm service locations before the carpentry is finalised.

Why include a linen cupboard in Mentone?

A linen cupboard can add handy storage for towels and household essentials without relying on the laundry’s existing cabinets. In a Mentone home, its size and position can be planned around the available room and access. Athans Building Services can incorporate the cupboard into the carpentry and finish it to suit the space.
