Preparation can include cleaning and sanding surfaces, filling cracks and patching holes before primer or paint is applied. This helps create a more even finish. The preparation needed depends on each wall’s condition, so the surfaces are assessed before work gets underway.

Yes, residential painting can include interior and exterior surfaces in Oakleigh. Interior work may cover bedrooms, living areas, kitchens and bathrooms, while exterior painting can include fences, eaves and weatherboards. The scope can be discussed before the job so the work suits the home.

Minor surface repairs can be included as part of painting preparation. This may involve filling small cracks or patching holes in walls before sanding and painting. Larger damage may need separate repair work, so the affected areas can be checked and discussed when planning the job.

Where possible, move small furniture, ornaments and personal items away from the surfaces being painted. Larger furniture can be shifted to the centre of the room or another suitable area. Clear access helps keep the work area tidy, and any concerns about moving items can be discussed beforehand.

The time needed depends on the room’s size, surface condition, preparation and number of coats. Repairs or drying time between coats can also affect the schedule. Once the room and requested work have been assessed, Athans Building Services can provide a clearer idea of the timeframe.
