Window Installation FAQs in Oakleigh

How do you prepare openings for new windows?

For Oakleigh homes, Athans Building Services starts by checking and measuring the opening so the replacement or new window can be fitted correctly. The surrounding area is prepared before installation, with any required adjustments identified along the way. Careful preparation helps the frame sit properly and connect neatly with the surrounding wall.

What happens when an old window frame is removed?

Once the old frame is removed, the surrounding timber is checked for damage and repaired where needed before the new frame goes in. This helps provide a sound fit and a tidy finish. The work is planned around the existing opening, with the condition of the surrounding area guiding the preparation.

Can window openings be adjusted for different sizes?

A window opening can sometimes be adjusted to suit a different sized unit. Athans Building Services can assess the framing and determine whether changes are suitable, including work in appropriate non structural walls. The required carpentry depends on the existing structure and the proposed window, so the opening is checked before work begins.

Do you fit timber sills and interior trim?

Yes, window installation carpentry can include timber reveals, sills, architraves and trim. These details finish the interior edge and create a neat connection between the window and surrounding walls. The team takes care with the fit and finish, with the selected components suited to the opening and the home.

What window styles can be installed in Oakleigh homes?

Sliding, awning and double hung window units can be fitted as part of a carpentry installation. The right option depends on the opening and the window selected for the home. Athans Building Services can prepare the frame and surrounding area to suit the chosen unit, then finish the interior edges neatly.

Why are packers and fixings important during installation?

Packers help position the window within the opening, while fixings secure the frame in place. Both are important for achieving a correct fit and a neat connection to the surrounding wall. Careful positioning also helps the window sit as intended, rather than relying on the frame to sit unevenly within the opening.
