Window Installation FAQs in Clayton South

How do you prepare openings before fitting windows?

Athans Building Services starts by measuring the opening and checking the surrounding area. Preparation may include removing existing frames, repairing nearby timber and making sure the opening is ready for the new frame. Careful preparation helps the window sit correctly and creates a tidy connection with the surrounding wall.

What happens to old window frames during installation?

Where a replacement is needed, the existing frame is removed so the opening can be checked and prepared for the new one. Any damaged surrounding timber can be repaired as part of the carpentry work. The new frame is then fitted with packers and fixings to hold it in position.

Can framing be adjusted for a different window size?

Yes, the surrounding framing can sometimes be adjusted to suit a changed window size. The opening needs to be assessed first to determine what carpentry is suitable. Athans Building Services can prepare the framing and fit the new frame, helping it sit properly within the wall opening.

Do you install sliding, awning and double-hung windows?

Athans Building Services can fit sliding, awning and double-hung window units as part of window installation carpentry. The opening is prepared to suit the selected unit, then the frame is positioned and secured. The right approach depends on the opening and the window being installed in your Clayton South home.

Why are reveals, sills and architraves fitted?

Timber reveals, sills and architraves finish the area around a window and create a neat join with the interior wall. They can be fitted after the frame is in place, along with other trim where required. These finishing details help the window opening look complete and tidy.

What should Clayton South homeowners check before installation?

Before work begins, it helps to confirm the window size and style, and whether the existing opening will need repairs or adjustments. Athans Building Services can assess the opening and explain the carpentry involved, including frame fitting and interior finishing, so the scope is clear before installation starts.
