Window Installation FAQs in Mentone

How do you measure windows before installation?

We measure the opening carefully and check its condition before fitting a replacement or new window. Accurate measurements help us choose the right frame size and plan any adjustments needed to the surrounding timber. We’ll discuss the window type and fitting requirements with you before work begins.

Can you replace old window frames in Mentone?

Yes, we can remove old window frames and fit new ones in Mentone homes. We prepare the opening, check the surrounding structure and install the replacement frame with suitable packers and fixings. The work is planned around the existing opening, with any necessary repairs to nearby timber considered as part of the job.

What happens if my window opening needs repairs?

We check the opening and surrounding timber once the existing frame is removed. If timber needs repair, we can address it before fitting the new frame, helping the window sit correctly. If the opening needs more substantial changes, we’ll discuss what’s involved and whether the wall is suitable before proceeding.

Can you fit different styles of window units?

We can fit sliding, awning and double hung window units, depending on the opening and the requirements of your project. We’ll check the measurements and framing to confirm the unit can be installed properly. Let us know which style you’re considering, and we can discuss the carpentry needed for a neat fit.

Do you install windows in non structural walls?

We can create an opening in a suitable non structural wall as part of window installation. The wall needs to be assessed first to make sure the proposed work is appropriate. We’ll discuss the opening size, framing changes and finishing requirements before any work starts.

How do you finish the inside edges neatly?

After the window frame is fitted, we can install timber reveals, sills, architraves and trim to finish the interior edges. These details help create a tidy connection between the window and surrounding walls. We take care with the fit and finish so the completed work looks consistent with the room.
