Home Extensions in Oakleigh

Adding space at home can make everyday living more comfortable without leaving the neighbourhood you love. Athans Building Services provides home extension carpentry in South East Melbourne, including Cheltenham and surrounding suburbs.

Each extension is built around the home’s layout, with timber floor, wall and roof frames, internal partitions, and structural openings for doors and windows. These openings help join new bedrooms or living areas to existing hallways and rooms. Cladding, eaves, fascia, internal doors, skirtings and architraves can complete the timber details as the extension progresses.

As a father and son team, Athans Building Services focuses on careful details and clear communication from framing through to finishing. The result is additional usable space that feels connected to your home.

Home Extensions FAQs in Oakleigh

What carpentry work can support an Oakleigh home extension?

Athans Building Services can build the timber components that help shape an extension, including wall frames, roof framing, floor framing and internal partitions. The work can suit new bedrooms, living areas or other useful spaces, with each detail planned around the extension and the existing home.

How are new rooms connected to existing living spaces?

The team can frame the connection between a new room and existing hallways or living areas, helping the spaces meet in a practical way. The layout and timber details depend on the design and the home, so these are considered as the extension takes shape.

Can you frame openings for new doors and windows?

Yes. Structural openings for doors and windows can be included in the extension framing, with their placement following the project plans. Careful setting out helps the openings suit the new room and its connection to the rest of the home.

What timber framing is needed for an extra bedroom?

An extra bedroom may need floor framing, timber wall frames, roof framing and internal partitions, depending on the extension design. Athans Building Services can complete the carpentry as the new space progresses, with the framing arranged to suit the plans and the existing house.

Do extension carpentry jobs include cladding and interior trim?

They can. Extension carpentry may include cladding, eaves and fascia, as well as internal doors, skirtings and architraves. The exact finishing work depends on the project and how far the carpentry scope extends. The team pays attention to the details as the new area is finished.

How do you plan extension carpentry for Oakleigh homes?

Athans Building Services considers the extension plans, the existing house and how the new rooms need to connect before carrying out the carpentry. In Oakleigh, each home and site is different, so the team discusses the required framing and timber details with customers before the work gets underway.
